Scotland’s Slow Food movement celebrates reliably sourced, carefully prepared dishes, eaten with appreciation in good company and convivial surroundings. A recent event laid on by the Ayrshire Food Network ticked all these boxes and more when enthusiasts gathered at Dalduff Farm near Maybole for a meal showcasing some of the best of the area’s food. Ayrshire members present included Burns Country Smokehouse, Nethergate Larder, Fencebay Bisheries, Dunlop Dairy and Westacre Drinks. Imagine, if you will, a meal which began with potted crab and squat lobster tails, continued through hot roast shoulder of pork from rare breeds and finished with elderflower ice cream and Arran cheeses and you have a pressing example of why you should make tracks to Ayrshire now if you love great regional food.
