Take a Gander at Our Annual Wild Goose Chase

You can expect a gaggle of delights at the annual Wild Goose Chase this month. The promotion run by Dumfries and Galloway Council with NTS Threave at Kelton Mains, RSPB Mersehead and WWT Caerlaverock, offers a great chance to view the thousands of geese that overwinter in Southern Scotland.

Make your way – migrate even – from east to west, from Caerlaverock, by way of Mersehead, Kelton Mains and Loch Ken, and the Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve, to Loch Ryan, and you will be able to see the six species of geese that choose to visit Southern Scotland: barnacle, Canada, brent, pink-footed, greylag and Greenland white-fronted. And for good measure you get our two species of swan, mute and whooper.

For a full list of Wild Goose Chase events, walks and the goose bus visit the Dumfries and Galloway Community site.
