Wigtown Book Festival 2009

This part of the world is well-known to bookworms (think Burns and Sir Walter Scott). These days Wigtown is the literary epicentre of Southern Scotland thanks to the plethora of booksellers and its annual festival. The 11th Wigtown Book Festival opens its doors today and runs until 4 October with readings, literary events and a variety of Homecoming activities. Visitors to the book festival will discover a great line-up of authors to see and hear, including Iain Banks, Christopher Brookmyre, Roddy Doyle, Irma Kurtz, Nick Nairn and Kenny Logan. Everyone is welcome; to find out more visit the official book festival website.
