The new Annandale Way officially opens tomorrow. A scenic 55 mile walking route, it starts high above the source of the river Annan and circumnavigates the spectacular Devils Beef Tub before dropping down to follow the river Annan and into the market town of Moffat. Scottish writer Linda Cracknell followed the route earlier this summer and found “flashes of kingfisher, crumbling mansions, the blink of a hare. Oak trees twisted through centuries of growth and willows sprung quickly from the earth”. The new long distance path has been designed to be walked in an enjoyable four or five days. However Sulwarth Connections has organised ten shorter guided walks this weekend to mark its opening.
