Keen gardeners visiting Southern Scotland often make a bee-line for Floors Castle where the gardening team tend the castle’s formal grounds. If your own green fingers are itching to know some of their secrets, you might like to know about a special seed-sowing workshop to be held at the Castle next Wednesday 10 March. The man sharing his knowledge is Andrew Simmons, who was responsible for much of the gardening at Balmoral before becoming head gardener at Floors. On Wednesday he will be discussing the requirements for successful seed growing, the materials required and the after-care of seedlings. The workshop costs £25 and includes tea and scones in the Terrace cafe. To book telephone 01573 227 660.
